Top Greens may quit party if members reject government deal

‘The party will crumble’ if coalition deal is voted down, says senior source

A number of parliamentary party members have told the Business Post that the party would be deeply damaged if the programme for government was rejected PIcture:

Several Green TDs and councillors could quit the party out of disillusionment if its membership doesn’t back entering government, senior figures in the party have claimed.

The claim comes as a number of independent TDs accused the Green Party of trying to exclude them from the next government in order to keep its majority small and increase the party’s leverage over Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael.
