Central Bank says it may look to extend pandemic insurance decisions to more businesses

The regulator will assess judgments on pandemic business interruption claims to see if they can be used to benefit customers more widely

He requested details on the number of policies that may provide cover, how many the CBI believed definitely did not afford cover to policyholders

The Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) may take further steps to ensure businesses enjoy the benefit of court rulings and decisions of the financial ombudsman on pandemic business interruption claims, it has said.

Ciara Furlong, the acting head of consumer protection at the CBI, told the Alliance for Insurance Reform (AIR) that the regulator was tracking cases before the courts, as well as the work of the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO).
