It was vague on time, details and efficacy, yet Mark Zuckerberg’s big announcement about Facebook becoming a privacy-focused platform attracted plaudits last week.

The Facebook boss gave no timeline on the switch beyond saying it would play out over a number of years. His blog post offered nothing in terms of clear actions the social network would take to become a different beast.
