Trump is facilitating Saudi Arabia and Israel while bullying Iran and Turkey – and getting the US nowhere

It is hard to draw any conclusion other than that Trump is advancing the regional interests of Israel as an end in itself.

Donald Trump is rampaging around the Middle East like the proverbial bull in a china shop (or, more aptly, like a silverback gorilla on a destructive jungle rampage), but he appears to be achieving little or nothing of value for the region, or for US interests.

The political and diplomatic score-sheet is frightening. Trump is bullying Iran and Turkey simultaneously and attempting to seriously destabilise each of them economically and politically by sanctions and tariffs.
