Spotify’s ‘stream first, ask legal questions later’ strategy could well sink its plan to go public, as songwriters line up for their pound of flesh

Randall Wixen made a career out of making sure songwriters were rewarded fairly for their work. Now he’s demanding $1.6 billion that he says is owed to his clients by Spotify. Wixen is known for foraging through the small print of record contracts to root out every last cent due to his artists. He was once asked by the late Tom Petty’s business manager, as a favour, to go through a stack of royalty statements....
