Most Irish people had probably never heard of Chris Heaton-Harris before this week.
Heaton-Harris is a Conservative MP for the British constituency of Daventry, as well as being a senior party whip.
Last week, Heaton-Harris wrote a letter to the vice-chancellors of several British universities asking them to supply him “with the names of professors at your establishment who are involved in the teaching of European affairs, with particular reference to Brexit”.
