‘No silver bullet’ for rehabilitating sex offenders

James McDermott’s article – ‘For sex offenders in our prisons, no rehab, no problem’ – in this newspaper last week was an interesting commentary on the management and rehabilitation of sex offenders in Ireland. But it was not altogether rounded or accurate.

One of his central points seems to be contained in his bafflement “that someone convicted of the most serious of sexual offences can ever set foot on the street...
