Massive Attack: asking their fans to think as well as listen

At first we spotted trivial stories about the Kardashians or EastEnders, stupid, fun stuff. But soon those headlines gave way to pictures of people in distress: refugees in icy waters; kids on shorelines; posters with words on them asking Mrs Merkel for help.

Where were we, you ask? We weren’t at a news conference. We weren’t at a fundraiser for refugee victims. No, we were upstairs at a gig in the Olympia Theatre in Dublin....
