Murphy’s numbers just don’t add up

The Minister for Housing’s monthly figures have been so distorted by political machinations that they are of little value and should be taken out of his control

Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy published his latest homeless figures this week. There were 5,869 adults and 3,829 children living in emergency accommodation funded by the Department of Housing in September. It showed significant increases in adult, child and family homelessness on August. In September alone, more than six children became homeless every single day.
