Mortgage to Rent Scheme should give value for money

Every extra euro spent on a newly established rental scheme is one that won’t go into something else, such as a hospital or school

There are two state-approved plans for the new Mortgage to Rent Scheme (MTR), which you can find at mortgagetorent.ie, which outlines the variances, which are minimal. The organisations offering the scheme are called Home for Life and iCare.

What isn’t outlined on the website is the cost that has to be picked up for the plans. In short, the scheme is a social support, so everybody pays for it. It’s unlike traditional social housing...
