A security crackdown only does the terrorists’ work for them by polarising neighbourhoods. Instead, the security services need to get back to working from the bottom up
The worst thing that could happen in Britain, and indeed other European countries, would be a major security crackdown, particularly one aimed at the Islamic community. If such a thing were to happen, it would largely be a cosmetic exercise aimed at reassuring the British public and the world in general that Britain was taking no nonsense.
