Enda Kenny was elected Taoiseach in 2011

On March 9, 2011, Enda Kenny was elected Taoiseach on a vote of 117 to 27. Last Tuesday, the Dáil voted confidence in him by 94-52. Governing in the age of austerity has exacted a heavy toll.

In the months after the general election, Kenny’s approval ratings were at 53 per cent; last week, an Irish Times poll put them at 31 per cent.
