For all the brouhaha over RTÉ Lyric FM’s future, the reality is that the station is very unlikely to bite the dust any time soon

RTÉ Lyric FM made the headlines last week. The story emerged as one of the broadcaster’s own programmes, Prime Time, revealed that RTÉ was considering cuts into what it was legally obliged to deliver. The following day, the Irish Daily Mail and revealed that RTÉ was “considering the future of the station”. All this was due to RTÉ’s “unprecedented” financial situation. RTÉ itself remained silent....
