History shows us Irish Water refunds will not be swift

If you paid your water charges, don’t be expecting a refund in time for your summer holidays

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has created an expectation that the nearly one million people who paid water charges will be refunded within a matter of weeks. The reality is somewhat different.

The minister previously responsible for water, Simon Coveney, said at the end of April that the legislation to scrap charges for over 90 per cent of households and refund those who paid their bills would be ready within six weeks.
