Don’t expect much from new US-China trade deal

With China steadily moving to the left and Donald Trump in full election mode, it’s doubtful whether the two superpowers can achieve real progress together

Following many false dawns in recent months, media reports suggest the US and China will finally sign an ‘interim’ trade agreement in the coming weeks, possibly in early December. Last week, the same reports even suggested that the Chinese authorities were considering locations and dates for Chinese president Xi Jinping to meet US president Donald Trump.
