Banking union grew out of lessons of financial crisis

The crisis exposed design flaws in the euro that are being tackled, and the foundations of the currency are now stronger

The EU Commission’s summer forecast gave a broadly positive assessment of Ireland. The gist was that we are doing well, but as a ‘highly open economy’ we need to be alert to changes outside our shores.
