The government is going to double the budget for the Land Development Agency and order public bodies to hand over key sites, as part of the new ten-year housing strategy.

There are also ongoing discussions about including a tax on vacant homes in the new strategy and giving more funding to councils to refurbish disused properties.

The publication of the ‘Housing for All’ strategy has been delayed until the end of next month while the final details are being thrashed out, but the Business Post understands that the funding for the plan has been fully agreed.
