Branding will be key to Irish Life’s bid to extend its foothold in the health insurance market, according to the company’s chief executive.

Irish Life, which is owned by Canadian giant Great-West Lifeco, announced last week that it had struck a deal to acquire Aviva’s Irish health insurance business, and take full ownership of GloHealth.

Once approved, the deal will leave Irish Life with about 420,000 health insurance customers....
