Mother reaches settlement over son’s hospital suicide

The mother of a suicidal man who took his own life in St James’s Hospital has received a settlement from the Dublin hospital.

The woman issued High Court proceedings against St James’s, which she alleged mismanaged his care.

Well-placed sources said her son presented three times within 24 hours to the hospital’s emergency department in 2011.
