Ireland's spending on prescribed medicines is second highest in EU
Total health expenditure at €3,922 per head of population is inside top five in Europe
Our total spending on health is also the fifth highest in Europe, after Luxembourg, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden at €3,922 per head of population.
This compares with Romania, the lowest spender on health, at €816, and an average EU figure of €2,781.
