Executive writes urgent letter to voluntary hospital bosses ahead of Public Accounts Committee grilling

The HSE has launched a desperate last-minute probe to ensure large hospitals and state-funded healthcare providers are not making secret payments to senior executives.

The HSE wrote to voluntary hospitals and independently-run healthcare organisations in advance of a scheduled public grilling before the Dáil Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Friday.

The letter from HSE head of compliance Brian Purcell, former secretary general at the Department of Justice, was sent late last week.
