The HSE is working with Twitter to stem the tide of anti-vaccine conspiracy theories which have caused a drop-off in the number of children protected against serious diseases.
The health body has become increasingly concerned about the role of social media in spreading misinformation which causes parents not to vaccinate their children.
A spokeswoman said it would launch a pilot project with Twitter in the coming weeks to ensure scientific information about vaccines was highlighted.
