Genetic data firm denies association with social media posts
LinkedIn account claimed that GMI had a data set of 12,000 ‘whole genome sequenced MS patients’
Genomics Medicine Ireland (GMI) has said it had nothing to do with a pair of social media posts that appeared to offer up a dataset of 12,000 genetic profiles of Irish multiple sclerosis patients.
GMI, which was founded in 2015 and was acquired last year by Chinese-owned WuXi NextCode, harvests genetic data for medical research. The firm is aiming to collect genetic data from as many as 400,000 Irish people over the next couple of years...
