Legal firm Arthur Cox, which has come under pressure in recent times over its connections with the tobacco industry, is representing the HSE in the legal battle over free GP care to the under-sixes.

Arthur Cox is understood to have taken over from a Dublin firm that had been representing the HSE in its legal battle with the National Association of General Practitioners (NAGP).

The NAGP is opposed to the under-sixes scheme.
