A key World Health Organisation (WHO) expert has blasted the government for reneging on commitments it made on patient safety.

Margaret Murphy, who heads up the WHO’s global group on patient safety, described as “outrageous” the Fine Gael/Labour government’s decision to abandon legislation that would force healthcare staff to disclose mistakes to patients.
