Nursing homes to avoid extra medical card fees with own GP service

Nursing homes are planning to set up their own GP service for patients, to avoid annual doctors’ retainer fees of €200 per patient.

The GPs get state payments of €434 per year for every patient in a nursing home who is on a medical card. However, some of them charge annual retainer fees to nursing homes for visiting their patients.
