A new report shows that Ireland requires many new beds to deal with a looming crisis

A considerable growth in nursing home bed numbers is needed in many counties in order to meet the demands of our growing and ageing population.

A comprehensive review prepared by Bank of Ireland, which will be published this week, has projected a 7,214 bed shortfall by 2026, warning that growing demand for beds would occur while many nursing homes were at the end of their life cycle.
