Alice Merrigan, who was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma in 2014, did an interview with this newspaper last summer.

She had been diagnosed at just 34 years of age, and the cancer had spread to her brain, heart, lungs and liver.

She was, to put it crudely, riddled with the disease.
