HSE, nuns in talks to settle abuse claims against jailed medic Shine

The HSE and the religious order that ran Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda have agreed to enter mediation talks aimed at settling more than 100 sexual abuse claims against jailed former surgeon Michael Shine.

Any deal struck between the state, the Medical Missionaries of Mary and former patients of the retired consultant is likely to run into millions of euro.
