Private hospitals will be allowed employ almost double the amount of consultants

The Health Service Executive has almost doubled the number of hospital consultants allowed to work in private hospitals.

Some 73 consultants had so-called Type C contracts – which allow them to work in private hospitals – by September 2015, according to figures provided by the HSE. That figure increased from 38 in 2014. None were issued until 2013.
