HSE bucks global trend and reverses fall in cervical cancer vaccine uptake

The latest vaccine figures will come as a relief to doctors and other healthcare professionals who had expressed serious concern about successive drops in recent years

The HSE has reversed the decline in uptake of the cervical cancer vaccine, making Ireland the first country to successfully fight back against campaigners who eroded public confidence in the vaccine.

Provisional figures show uptake of the vaccine increased to 61 per cent this year - up from 50 per cent last year.
