History of nursing protests
The current nursing strike is only the second in Ireland’s history.
The first major threat of strike action from nurses came in April 1997. It was avoided with just 14 hours to spare. The Labour Court came up with a new package, accepted by the nurses, worth £87 million (€110 million).
