GPs seeking Medical Council meeting over complaints process

The National Association of General Practitioners (NAGP) has written to the Medical Council seeking a meeting due to concerns over the way the regulator handles complaints against doctors.

The Medical Council, which regulates doctors, can suspend and prohibit doctors from working and can hold inquiries that are open to the public.

The NAGP said it was concerned about the complaints process, particularly in respect of minor and less serious complaints.
