GPs advised to limit early abortions to nine weeks

Irish College of General Practitioners issues guidelines

The Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) has proposed that the provision of early abortion services by GPs should be limited to nine weeks’ gestation.

The ICGP said the medical literature suggested ultrasound scanning was not required up to nine weeks’ gestation to determine gestational age.
