Exclusive: HSE ‘cannot afford’ new €160,000 cystic fibrosis treatment
The annual cost of treatment would be €92 million - the same as funding Temple Street Children’s Hospital
The HSE has ruled out funding a new breakthrough drug for cystic fibrosis sufferers.
HSE chief Tony O’Brien said it did not have the money to fund the drug, called Orkambi, which was approved for use by the European regulator last month.
