Ian Carter, the former national director of acute hospitals in the Health Service Executive

Ian Carter, the former national director of acute hospitals in the Health Service Executive, is expected to take up the position of chief executive of the Dublin North East/Royal College of Surgeons Hospitals Group.

Carter, who was reassigned to the post of national director for strategic developments in 2014, will take over from interim chief executive and surgeon Paddy Broe.
