SMEs are the backbone of the EU’s economy, acting as engines that drive job creation, innovation and growth across Europe. According to our latest statistics, almost 23 million SMEs generate around €3.9 trillion in value added across the EU. They employ 90 million people, representing two-thirds of the EU’s workforce, and this number has been growing over the last few years.
