Plan A could be A Levels
If the end line is a place at college, parents and students should take heart. These days there are many means available to achieve that goal – sometimes it just takes a little lateral thinking.
Take, for example, Dublin Tutorial Centre (DTC). Established in 1978 it remains the only officially accredited A Level centre in Ireland for most examining boards in Britain.
When it was founded, DTC fulfilled a specific need for students who wanted to pursue studies at Cambridge or Oxford universities in Britain, which – at that time – did not accept the Irish Leaving Certificate as an entry qualification.
