Call for Nominations from Healthcare Professionals Throughout the Country

Renowned broadcaster, Mary Kennedy has been announced as the host of the GPBuddy.ie National GP Awards. Now in its fourth year, the Awards are held annually by GPBuddy.ie, the online networking and educational tool for general practitioners, in association with Affidea Ireland, the national diagnostic imaging provider.

Nominations are now open for the Awards onwww.gpbuddyawards.ie with winners due to be announced at a glittering gala awards ceremony in Dublin’s Shelbourne Hotel on Friday 13th September 2019.

Commenting, Dr Shane McKeogh from GPBuddy.ie said: “The GPBuddy.ie National GP Awards have grown into a national date of great importance on the calendar of healthcare professionals country-wide.

At a time when the sustainability of our GP practices and in particular of rural practices is threatened by the lack of financing and resources, this event offers the opportunity for our healthcare heroes to be recognised for the outstanding work that they are doing, deep within the heart of local communities, the length and breadth of Ireland.”

Mary Kennedy said: “I am absolutely thrilled to support the GPBuddy.ie Awards this year. From Donegal to Dingle, from Achill to Dublin, GPs throughout the country and the teams of dedicated people who work in GP Practices, in hospitals and in the healthcare sector in Ireland give so much to us every day. I am honoured to be involved in giving something back to them and recognising their achievements this year at the GPBuddy.ie National GP Awards.”

Barry Downes, CEO at Title Sponsor, Affidea Ireland added: “General Practice is the foundation of our health care system. The commitment and dedication required to provide medical services in this country should never be under estimated The GPBuddy.ie Awards allow us all to stop and think about the work that we all do in delivering health service in Ireland and in particular the difficult and demanding work that GPs do with diminishing resources in communities throughout the country.”
