Referred to as the 'founding father of economics' by American economist Murray Rothbard, the Irish-French economist Richard Cantillon was the author of the Essai sur la Nature du Commerce en Général (1755)

Much of what we consider the origins of modern day economics can be traced back to one man: Richard Cantillon.
