EU-wide, Ireland’s record in education and training stands up to favourable comparison in certain categories, but in the area of adult participation in lifelong learning (age 25-64) we fall well short of the EU average. According to Eurostat, in 2015 the participation rate in Ireland was 6.5 per cent, whereas the EU average was 10.7 per cent.
