When David Richardson sets out for work in the morning, he knows exactly how long it’s going to take him. He knows he won’t be stuck in lengthy commuter tailbacks or fighting for space in a crowded train carriage.

It will be a smooth and stress-free 40-minute drive from his home in Gort into Shannon and his job at Ei Electronics.
