It has long been seen as an important economic and cultural centre and, if recent figures are anything to go by, Cork is living up to its reputation. According to growth targets laid out in the National Planning Framework (NPF), it is now the fastest growing city in Ireland.

The Metropolitan Cork population is set to grow from 304,000 to more than half a million by 2040 with an anticipated 65,000 jobs due to be created by 2031.
