Indemnity costs force closure of private practice

It is estimated that in excess of 20 consultants ceased private practice in 2014 due to the soaring cost of indemnity, and more are planning to leave in 2015 if these costs are not addressed urgently, according to Irish Hospitals Consultants Association (IHCA).

The cost of clinical indemnity has doubled for many specialties in recent years – in 2014 alone it increased by an average of 40 per cent.
