Galway joins cultural elite as Unesco city of film

MovieMaker Magazine also voted the Galway Fleadh one of the 25 coolest film festivals in the world

Galway became a Unesco city of film in December when the director general of Unesco (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) announced that the city had beaten 63 others to achieve the accolade.

Galway joins Unesco’s Creative Cities Network, including major metropolitan and cultural centres such as Sydney, Seoul, Shanghai, Montreal, Buenos Aires, Berlin and Edinburgh.
