There are few who can truly claim to have defied the odds like Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards, whose immutable self-belief has seen him become a symbol of resilience.

Born Michael Edwards in December 1963, the former plasterer from Cheltenham became the first competitor to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski-jumping when he qualified to compete at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada.
