Budget 2018: The lay of the land
The farming sector is happy to see new measures introduced to deal with Brexit and moves to facilitate the transfer of farms between generations
To support Ireland’s largest indigenous industry, on Budget Day, Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe announced an increase in funding of €64 million for the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, along with a comprehensive package of Brexit measures amounting to more than €50 million. This includes increased funding for further Brexit response loan schemes for the agri-food sector. These schemes are to be developed in cooperation with the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland and others in 2018.
