Budget 2018: Why Donohoe has continued to support ‘help to buy’

The help-to-buy scheme is playing a significant role in making marginal projects viable, and will in time be seen to have eased the housing crisis

On Budget Day, Paschal Donohoe published an independent report by Indecon on the help-to-buy scheme. The report concludes that, given we are in the early days for the scheme, it is too soon to assess its impact on pricing and supply. As a result, the minister has sensibly kept the measure.
