Annual healthcare bill of €17bn is ‘unsustainable’

At €17 billion, Ireland’s annual healthcare spend is unsustainable in the current model and needs to move from a primarily hospital-based episodic treatment 19th-century approach to a 21st-century focus on prevention and health maintenance.
