A superb example of Sean Scully’s later work is Pink Three, oil on aluminium, 71.1. x 81.3cm, executed in 2008. It was on a trip to Mexico in the early 1980s that Scully was taken with the way the light hit the monumental stacked stones of the ancient Mayan walls in the Yucatan peninsula.
